ESL Icebreaker: Tell Us About Yourself
Tell Us About Yourself is a simple first class icebreaker that works well with teens and adults. In Tell Us About Yourself, the teacher passes around a bag of sweets. The teacher tells the students to take as many sweets as they want but not to eat them just yet. Once all the students have a sweet, the students first count how many sweets they have and tell the teacher. For each sweet the students took they have to say one thing about themselves in English. For example, if a student took 3 sweets they must tell the class 3 things about themselves.
Activity time: 15 minutes
Materials required: Sweets or other treat.

Use toilet paper instead of sweets. Pass around a roll of toilet paper and have students take as much as they like without explaining why. Continue the activity in a similar way as described above.
