Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune is a useful tool to make even the dullest of book activities entertaining. Wheel of fortune can be used a number of different ways some of which are outlined below.

How it works

Up to 5 teams can play at the same time. Each team gets to spin the wheel and then their points are added to their total. The points are awarded randomly and as such is a great way to make games fair and allow every student/team a chance to win.

Ideas to use Wheel of Fortune

Revision – Many English language course books often have a revision section at the end of the unit to recap vocabulary, grammar and other aspects covered in the unit. Often times these are either skipped or loathed by students. Wheel of Fortune can turn these boring revision activities into an exciting game.
Put students into groups and have them complete the exercise. When everyone is ready, the teams take turns answering the questions. If they are correct, they spin the wheel and get the points. The team with the most points win! This can be a great tool for mixed ability classes as the wheel gives everyone a chance to be a winner!
Quizzes – Use the board to award points to teams. You could use Wheel of Fortune with our vocabulary and grammar quizzes
